This is one of my go-to oats combos now that I am on the breakfast bandwagon. Rolled oats are so awesome – they make for a quick and easy snack, as well as a nourishing, energy-kick of a breakfast.
Purple Porridge (Goth Oats)
What you need:
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 cup of rice milk
1 tbsp raw almonds
handful of frozen blueberries
a pinch of cinnamon
pure maple syrup (or brown sugar)
What to do:
In a small saucepan combine rolled oats, almonds and cinnamon. Add milk and bluberries; mix briefly. Cook on medium-low heat, bringing to the boil, then simmering until the oats are thickened the way you like ’em, and nice and purple lookin’. Stir frequently. Pour into small bowl and top with a drizzle of maple syrup. Serve immediately.
